The London Help to Buy: Equity Loan* will close to new applications at 6pm on 31st October.

From the 31st October, the Help To Buy: Equity Loan scheme will close to new applications. First-time buyers will need to apply ahead of this deadline in order to take advantage of the scheme before it closes in March 2023. With a range of apartments still available via the Help to Buy scheme at The Lock in Greenford Quay, we’ve pulled together everything you need to know about Help to Buy, to help you get one step closer to finding your dream home.

What is the Help to Buy scheme?

The Help to Buy: Equity loan scheme is a government-backed scheme to help first-time buyers find, and fund, their first home. The scheme allows buyers to purchase a brand-new home much sooner than they may have been able to otherwise.

Will I need a hefty deposit?

With the Help to Buy scheme, you will be able to buy a brand new home with only 5% deposit and your mortgage can make up the rest.

You can then borrow an equity loan to cover up to 40% of the property purchase price of your newly built home. What’s more, the equity loan is interest-free for the first five years, leaving you time to pay off the price of your dream home over time.

The maximum property price to be eligible is £600,000 in London.
