QUEEN MARY’S GATE COMMUNITY WATER GARDENS DESIGNED TO IMPRESS
Telford Homes’ prestigious Queen Mary’s Gate development, in South Woodford, is rapidly taking shape and apartments are continuing to sell well ahead of completion. There is a great selection of two bedroom/two bathroom apartments available, which are large and spacious ranging from 689 – 920 sq ft/ 64-85 sq m, all with open plan living/dining areas.
One of the main attractions of the landmark residential development is the expansive landscaped park with magnificent water feature, which will provide plenty of communal space for residents. The beautifully planted areas together with the water features will form a tranquil oasis, which residents can enjoy at their leisure.
Designed by architects BDG Design, the garden will include a stepped water feature. As the water flows out into the open spaces, it gathers pace and becomes a more informal stream that eventually reaches a semi-circular pool fringed with mature trees and shrubs and partially filled with aquatic plants.
Andy Hastings of BDG Design comments: “The water feature is designed to change its style and feel as it negotiates the steep slope that runs down the site. This reflects the character of the different areas of the scheme. For example, as it flows through the residential courtyards it starts life as a shallow formal pool. The movement of water is slow with interest being created by small bubbling fountains of water gently trickling over tiny weirs and stepped waterfalls.” Andy Hastings continues: “In order to achieve these attractive features it has been necessary to install and conceal two separate pumping and treatment systems. This enables establishment of an attractive plant and wildlife environment while ensuring the water remains completely safe for all residents and site users.”
Sheena Ellwood, Sales and Marketing Director for Telford Homes, comments: “We are positive the water gardens will be a wonderfully appealing feature at Queen Mary’s Gate. Residents will be able to meander down the gardens and find a spot to relax by the water in amongst the trees. Their existence means that, with the City and a myriad of local amenities on the doorstep you can have the best of both worlds – a place to rest as well as a place to play.” Queen Mary’s Gate is an exclusive development of contemporary apartments and penthouses, formerly the halls of residence for Queen Mary’s College. Situated within walking distance of South Woodford Central Line tube station and the local amenities of the town centre, the development also offers the convenience of nearby road and rail transport.
The apartments will be laid out across numerous modern buildings, meticulously designed to complement the elegant 18th century listed mansion, which is at the entrance to the development. The buildings will vary in height from four to seven storeys, creating a softened skyline to fit in with the predominately low-rise buildings in the surrounding locale. There is also a full-time concierge service at the gated main entrance.
The first apartments, along with the water gardens, are due to be completed and ready for occupation in November 2007.
